Author Portraits at my Studio, Toronto

Author Portrait | Jessica Blaine Smith

I am often asked about what kind of photography I do and my reply is usually: “anything with people”. While I photograph a lot of kids, babies, families and weddings, I also photograph a lot of other  people for other purposes whether is be corporate headshots of an entire firm or a single portrait that someone needs for their own marketing needs. It is always fun to see where these images end up and to see what photo the client choses to represent themselves to the world.

There are two books currently on the shelves that have my author portraits in them. The first is in a cook book called How to Feed a Family by Ceri Marsh and Laura Keogh of Sweet Potato Chronicles. It was a lot of fun to photograph these two ladies together at the studio. The second book that has my photo is Elizabeth Renzetti’s Based on a True Story. I photographed Liz in the winter and she told me all about this novel at the shoot. Ever since then, I have been dying to read it but had to patiently wait for it to come out. I love books – real, physical, paper books. I love the feel of them in my hands. I often download books to read on my iPad but they take me twice as long to read. There is nothing like the real thing.Author Portrait | Jessica Blaine SmithAuthor Portrait | Jessica Blaine Smith
