I have known Lisa for a long time. We met twelve years ago during that awkward time when we were first year university students at Ryerson. We were both new to Toronto and became roommates in residence for that first year. Together we have been through a lot. Suddenly we are thirty-somethings and are real life adults. When Lisa decided to move to Bermuda a few years ago I was happy for her and her new adventure but I knew that I would miss her and those wine and book club nights. I remember when I first met Robb (Rego). The two of them had flown to Toronto for a weekend and we met up for lunch at the Rivoli. Instantly I was sold on him. The two just fit so well. I remember the way they interacted and laughed together. The way that he touched her (or maybe he jokingly patted her on the head saying,”There there, Lisa”). Sometimes when you see a couple that is so natural and happy together you just know: this is love. With Lisa + Rego, this is it. They are made for one another. Without.a.doubt.
I was so excited when Lisa called me early in the year to say that they were engaged. She told me the story of her bad day and how Rego insisted that they go for a walk. He brought champagne and soon enough he was down on that one knee. To say that Lisa + Rego’s wedding was a blast is an understatement. I had such a great time and I know that everyone who was there would agree with me. You can judge the character of a couple by the guests present to support them in their next step together. Lisa + Rego had guests in that room from literally every corner of the world (including her 93 year old granddad who had flown in from Glasgow). They are good people and I am so happy to have them in my life. Congratulations, Lisa + Rego. I love you lots.
