Another year…

And so another year has passed and I am now a new age. Slightly older, perhaps slightly more wise, definitely more sure of myself and the world around me. This past August, my niece, Li’l K and I hung out for four solid days. During that time I taught her to use my camera (see above image), we hiked trails, saw wildlife, swam in rapids and danced in kitchens and cars. Everyday I asked her if she was having fun and her reply would be “This is the super duper best day ever!” I would ask, “But what about yesterday?” and she said, “Today is even better. And tomorrow will be even more great.” How at the age of five, she is already so wise is beyond me but I understand what she means. Everyday is better than the previous because we make it that way.

I love using birthdays as the day to reflect on the past year. To remember where I have been and to use those experiences to decide just where I want to go. This past year has been incredible, filled with lots of laughs, some tears and a lot of learning. I traveled to Australia, Cuba, Miami, Las Vegas and Mexico (twice). I photographed people in love and I photographed a ton of bouncing babies and kids. I spent a lot of time with family and friends and I worked on myself by focusing more on things such as soccer, running and yoga. I feel good. I am so blessed to have this life, to wake up everyday excited for what is to come. I am so thankful for all of those that are close to me who continue to inspire me in what they do and who continue to push me to always be a better person. Together we are stronger. Here is to another year of fun, discovering new places, making beautiful images and most of all, laughing until the tears roll. Life is precious. And tomorrow is going to be even better than today.
