Erica + Bryan are married! I have been eagerly waiting until I could blog this wedding because there were so many gorgeous details that I have been dying to share! First off, Erica + Bryan are a fabulous couple and I think that that really shows in the images. They.love.each.other. The best is the romantic story of how they got engaged. In their words, “Bryan proposed under the stars in the Sahara desert, with a ring he carved while he was backpacking the Himalayas. After reading this over it sounds like complete BS but we swear it’s the real story.” Hello, romance! Said hand-carved ring was stored in a matchbox during Bryan’s trip. For their wedding ceremony, the rings were put in that matchbox and passed around to all of the guests to hold and send their good wishes on. I loved this.

Erica + Bryan’s wedding was at one of my favourite venues in Toronto: Archeo in the Distillery District. They hired the amazing Stemz to go wild with colour and decorate the room. The flowers were incredible and I must say, Erica’s bouquet is one of the best that I have seen. Melissa of One Fine Day Event Planning did a great job of keeping us all in line. And of course, they had one of my favourite officiants,  Jeremy Citron perform the ceremony. Congratulations Erica + Bryan!

A couple of weeks ago I hosted a Vintage Portrait Party at a park located near my studio. We had five sessions throughout the day that included a one year old, a three month old, a two year old and a pug named Chachi! The day was great, the kids were kids and we all had a lot of fun! It’s not every weekend that I get to photograph a nerd wedding! Amanda + Steve’s self-proclaimed “nerd” wedding took place on August 7th at the awesome Rosehill Events located nea Yonge & St. Clair. Their wedding had so many personal touches that it completely represented them. Amanda + Steve are lovers of technology so technology found it’s way into the wedding quite a bit. Amanda originally found out about my photography via twitter, they had a wedding website where guests could RSVP and the best thing: they had a live web stream of the wedding! Amanda + Steve are also BIG foodies so there was a lot of time and care put into choosing all of the food for the big day (It was delicious, might I add!). The music that they chose for every aspect of the wedding was well thought-out and the wedding favours were Davids Tea (yum!) and freshly roasted coffee bean from The Beanery. I loved it all! Congratulations Amanda + Steve! You two are fabulous!

Back in July I flew to Thunder Bay and spent one of the best weekends of the summer with some of my greatest friends. I have always wanted to travel that far North in this beautiful province. The weekend was spent laughing and eating and exploring some of the sites. One morning we had brunch at the Thunder Bay Restaurant. I loved everything about the place: the decor, the self-serve coffee, the owner who did everything including the serving, cooking and taking the money. Life is beautiful.

How great is this view from Porter?! Have I mentioned before how much I love flying Porter Airlines? They are fabulous.

I really like Heather + Deric. Their portrait session was one of those where I left just feeling good about life. Heather + Deric live in South Dakota so they booked me as their wedding photographer before actually meeting in real life. I was very excited to finally meet them for their engagement session when they were in town to visit their family this summer. Our original plan had been to head to the Island but when the weather did not cooperate, we opted to head to the Distillery District. I had always wanted to photograph at some places between my studio and the Distillery and with their session, I was finally able to! I love the urban feel of these images and think that they really show Toronto. Heather + Deric, you are great and I cannot wait to photograph your wedding in 2011!

I love doing boudoir portraits! The client is always surprised when they see the photos in the end and I am often asked, “is that me?!” I know that the photos are often done for the client’s partner but truthfully, they’re also done for the client. There is no greater self-esteem boost than realising just how beautiful you are! As with all of my boudoir portraits, these images are posted with the permission of the client.
